Stop Hinkley Campaign calls on Environment Minister to Champion Biodiversity in the Severn Estuary and refuse EDF’s Appeal which could wipe out 11 billion fish.

16th November 2021

Marine and conservation groups based around the Bristol Channel, along with the Environment Agency are still awaiting a decision from the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, George Eustice, on the public inquiry which considered EDF’s application to renege on its commitment to install Acoustic Fish Deterrents on the massive cooling water intakes at Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.

What is the real cost of nuclear power?

No one knows, until the final bill for dealing with the waste has been totted up in thousands of years. EdF and the UK government are planning to dump the waste, and the costs of managing it, onto future generations.

Stop Hinkley was founded in 1983

We played a major part in the 14-month public enquiry in 1988/9  and continued to campaign for alternative renewable energy sources and energy conservation measures.

The closure of Hinkley A was announced in May 2000 as a result of our campaigning.
